For every 1 person reading this – there are about 42 people who are struggling to feed themselves and their families this winter. In fact 882,188 people will have no choice but turn to their local food bank this month (Food Banks Canada HungerCount 2012).

I’m sure you would agree that it’s really important to keep this in mind while celebrating and giving thanks during the holiday season. That’s why I wanted to share with you some easy ways you can continue your support of students changing their food systems this December:

Your Holiday gift to Meal Exchange will go a long way...

For the person who has everthing

A holiday gift to Meal Exchange, no matter what the size, will make a difference by enabling us to start the New Year off with a bang! Support thousands of youth across Canada, who are working to make sure that one day, everyone will have access to health, nutritious food, year-round.

Canadian Pacific Holiday Train

CP Holiday Train

This gives the Santa Claus parade a run for their money!

By far one of my favourite Holiday events - it features 14 rail (old school) cars decorated with hundreds of thousands of festive lights! One of the cars is a modified boxcar that has been turned into a traveling stage for performers! It really brings the holiday spirit and cheer to every community it visits!

Visit their website to see if the train is stopping in your community!

Generation Seven by the Bosc Family doubles their support

Generation Seven by the Bosc Family

$1 donated to Meal Exchange for every bottle purchased during the month of December!

If you live in Ontario, Alberta or Saskatchewan, look out for wines by Generation Seven by the Bosc Family! Our 2010 supporter of the year, Chateau des Charmes, will be donating $1 from every bottle of Generation Seven (white or red) wine purchased in December.

GenSeven is a local wine that celebrates family, friends and the connections we create while sharing a meal. It is based on "seventh generation sustainability" - the concept which urges our current generation to live sustainably and that decisions today must consider the impact on the earth seven generations into the future.

December is the prime time for you to stock up prior to all your family and office holiday parties! Find out where you can pick yours up here.
